Compensable Injuries
a) Motor Vehicle Injuries
The Insurance Commission of WA (I.C.W.A.) is the statutory authority responsible for administering the compulsory third party insurance scheme in Western Australia. To assist I.C.W.A. in the processing of liability acceptance and payment for physiotherapy treatment, please ensure that you do the following:
Following a Motor Vehicle Accident, the accident must be reported. This can be done online at: www.crashreport.com.au
For injuries where ongoing medical treatment is likely, a claim form will need to be completed and submitted to I.C.W.A. They will then assess the claim and accept or decline the claim. Claims may be declined if:
- You were at fault.
- The person at fault was not the owner or driver of a motor vehicle eg: pedestrian or cyclist.
- The person at fault was the driver or owner of a vehicle registered in another state or territory.
- If the at fault vehicle is registered in another state or territory - you will need to contact the relevant state or territory compulsory third party insurer to make a claim.
Physiotherapy West will bill I.C.W.A. directly for all accepted work related injuries when a valid claim number is provided. The physiotherapists at Physiotherapy West are experienced in dealing with motor vehicle accident related injuries and will work with you to get you to optimum health, fitness and well-being as quickly as possible.
b) Work Related Injuries
Workcover WA is the agency responsible for the worker’s compensation and injury management system in Western Australia.
To assist the Insurer in the processing of liability acceptance and payment for physiotherapy treatment, please ensure that you do the following:
- Report the injury to your employer.
- Receive a First Certificate of Capacity from your GP and a written physiotherapy referral from your GP. This must be a Workcover approved form and is a legal document. A sick note will not suffice and will not allow a workers compensation claim to proceed.
- Complete a Workcover WA Worker's Compensation Claim Form and return this with the First Certificate of capacity to your employer. Your employer will pass these forms on to their insurer for processing.
- Provide Physiotherapy West staff a copy of your First Certificate of Capacity and physiotherapy referral and name of your employer's insurer.
- Provide your insurance claim number to Physiotherapy West staff as soon as it becomes available.
Physiotherapy West will bill the insurer directly for all accepted work related injuries when a valid claim number is provided.
We are experienced in dealing with work related injuries and will work with you to aid your return to work in the safest possible way.
